PBTRA (Port of Brixham Trawlwer Race Association) raised £12,000 from the trawlwer race, £6000 of which went to the fisherman's mission.  The remainder was given to various organisations with the emphasis on benefit to Brixham people.  The amounts varied from £200 to £500 with one exceptional doubling to £1000 for Brixham does Care because the local traders in Middle St who had stumped up for a funfair that did not turn up, decided not to have their money back and leave it in the funds.  So BJSC did the best of most of the applicants.

Thanks to our fund raiser Chris Coote we were given a £500-00 grant from this association

Other grants received this year (Thanks to Chris Coote) were £500 from Devon community fund and £250 from Btixham Town council.  So far we have bought new bouyancy aids, spray tops and a hand held VHF with that money.

Another item to note although you probably already know this is that our Chloe won the silver fleet in the regatta with a fifth, a third a second and four firsts.  Also Chloe won the novice helm race aboard "apiano" on Thursday.

Can you pass this onto your junior members, particularly the ones who competed at the Topper Open please.

We will be having a Junior Fun day on Saturday 9th July which coincides with the end of this years junior beginners course, but to get everyone involved we have also arranged for RYA coach Ian Mills to hold a race training session for the ‘PSC Topper squad’.  After the training, at approx. 17.00 we will then be having a BBQ.  If any of your Juniors would like to join us, then they will be most welcome, though depending on numbers we may need them to ‘bring a boat’.

You will obviously be welcome to join us yourself too!

We will not be making a charge for the training session, but we will need to charge £5 for the BBQ.  If anyone is interested please can you let us know ASAP, particularly for the BBQ so we know how many we are catering for.

Regretably we (at BJSC) have no volunteers available to assist our club members at this event, but please attend if you can

April ? 2011   Peter C has also managed to mug someone on E-bay for 2 topper sails in new condition - so now we have 3 respectable looking craft out of 7.

Congratulations!
Brixham Junior Sailing Club is one of the 20 lucky OnBoard Clubs to receive a 4.2 Topper sail.
Your sail will be sent to you directly from Topper International and will arrive by early May ready for use this season.

Happy sailing for the coming summer.
