Brixham Junior Sailing Club prize giving took place on Saturday 8th Nov at Brixham Yacht Club.

Two trophies are awarded this year, the Perseverance Shield and a 'new' trophy to be known as the Founders Cup.

Peter Hard was presented with the Perseverance Shield for not only being the most enthusiastic newcomer but also for his help to others and his cheerful manner - a most worthy winner.

Tim Jeffrey won the Founders Cup as an outstanding junior sailor who has listened to instruction during the year and has developed his sailing skills by leaps and bounds - we hope he will continue to race next year.

The Founders Cup was given to BJSC by Mrs Sylvia Gilder, who's father, Mr Tyrer a well known Brixham businessman, won it in 1936 on his yacht - Sylvia. It is understood that Mr Tyrer was a founder member of BYC which began as a Club in 1937. The trophy is engraved and hallmarked in solid silver. We are most grateful to Mrs Gilder for this bequest which is awarded to the most improved young sailor of the year.
