H.M.Queen and Prince Philip to-day visited Weymouth to view the recently completed Olympic Sailing Centre which will host sailing events for the 2012 Olympics. In the course of her inspection she asked Lord Coe where the Sonata events  would take place.

On hearing that the Sonata Class would be unrepresented she threw a wobbly, threatened to intern Lord Coe in the Tower and hinted that had that nice Mr Blair still been Prime Minister things would have been different.

In an aside to Prince Philip she was heard to say “we must make sure the WS II Sonata crews feature prominently in the New Years Honours List”. Prince Philips response was not clear. An  unnamed source suggested his response was “Silly old moo, Sinatras dead”

Meanwhile a special meeting of the Olympic Committee (Sailing Events) is being urgently convened and is expected to take place in Geneva early next week.
