SONATA WORLD SERIES 2

RACE 2 (23 APRIL 2009)

Observers from the National Sonata Association visiting Brixham Yacht Club to view what they had hoped would be a closely fought contest found themselves embroiled in a bitter and acrimonious debate.

On a bitterly cold and damp evening with poor visibility and fickle winds it was clearly a race demanding the highest levels of concentration . Unfortunately such concentration did not extend as far as the selection of the correct course in the case of one Competitor. (Editors note. Name of the offending Sonata and any further details are being withheld pending possible legal action)

Accusations after the race that the Club website from which the offending yacht had accessed their course was both inaccurate and out of date provoked an instant response from Webmaster Tim Corbett. He said “S.L-S wouldn’t recognise a website if a spider came up and bit his **** “(actual phrase deleted to avoid upsetting our more sensitive readers)

But leaving controversy aside dear readers what of the Race?

Bluesbreaker had established a narrow lead over A piano at the first mark with Simply Alto in close attendance. Shortly afterwards however A piano disappeared into the gloom in the general direction of Teignmouth and was only spotted again just before closing time leaving Bluesbreaker  to claim first spot for the second successive week and Simply Alto second.

This victory prompted Bluesbreakers principal sponsors  Don Darias fine wines and cleaning products Seville to renew their sponsorship for a second year

A BYC source who does not wish to be identified for fear of victimisation said “Perhaps Stevie L.S should have gone to Specsavers”
