Successful applicants for the training programme will be contacted by BJSC.

Only 12 new cadets can be trained each spring – the selection process may include the time on the list, age & sailing experience.

Training will take place on MONDAY evenings from 5:30pm until dusk (normally 8:30pm+)
other events as in the programme

Experienced club members can be involved in racing and squad training on Monday nights.

ANNUAL CLUB MEMBERSHIP £40 per person. This is not including a RYA training log book costing £5
All participants are to be B J S C members.

This fee includes a minimum of 12 training sessions (weather permitting) and the use of club boa,t free of charge, during club hours. It may also involve inclusion in special events such as Regattas, commodores specials, races etc.

Limited places. Use of own boats is encouraged. Own boats to be insured for racing.


DINGHY COMPOUND. summer charge about £2-50/foot payable to BYC( to be CONFIRMED )

WE HOPE GUARDIANS WILL TAKE AN ACTIVEPART IN EVENING SESSIONS.


Check list for guardians.
? Provide personal buoyancy – advice will be given by instructors
? Provide, light trousers, warm top, woolly hat, wind proof top (anorak).
? Bring along a towel & dry clothes to change after a session.
? Be prepared to help launch and retrieve boats and assist in the training where feasible.
? Collect sailors at around 8:30 pm form the Compound at BYC after session.
? Responsibility for the junior members ceased after 9pm on club nights. Juniors waiting transport will muster in the yacht club. Please call BYC 853332 if you have a problem and we can then arrange to keep members in the yacht club.

CADET TRAINING. Please note that when poor sailing conditions arise, too much or too little wind, the programme may be altered on the night. Rain does not stop training.


We have always succeeded, over 12 weeks, to provide a full sailing course. Capsize drill may be programmed any night and warm dry clothing MUST always be available for your child.

RACE TRAINING. Dinghy racing series will be arranged.
We will be able to offer a race training for improving sailors on toppers on Monday nights – depending on the instructors/help Available. Sailing games included.

The programme will allowing young sailors the chance to improve their skills on club boats/ or their own boats in sheltered waters and under supervision.

BYC has provided 4 Topper dinghies and if we are over run with young sailors (without boats) they will have to accept a rotation of placing for a sail. I trust you understand this is of necessity.
